(2006 - from the CD "The Last Songs")
In the beginning lives the end
Can the foe become your friend?
Easy answers there are none, though
frightened grown ups search for one
In these broken bloody times
We need more than TV smiles
Behind the eyes the door is tight shut
Behind the makeup, just more makeup
When the pain is such, feelings turn to dust
Are there tears enough to wash all of us?
Chorus:
I’m a sparrow in the storm
Without your love to keep me warm
Seasons come and seasons go
That you love me is all I need to know
I’m a sparrow in the storm
Without your love to keep me warm
Hold my hand and time will show
That you love me is all I need to know
The message written on our walls
For the strong to climb : the weak must fall.
This is heresy I guess, but could the strong
perhaps learn to live with less
When the pain is such, feelings turn to dust
Are there tears enough to wash all of us?
When I need a friend, here you are again
You let me comfort you like only lovers do
(Half Chorus)
As the birthdays come and go
The more I understand, the less I know
As the birthdays come and go
Only one thing I know
(Chorus)
Above the storm...in the bluest of skies...a beautiful white eagle flies and all it takes is for the little Sparrow to reach up, past the dark clouds, and call out to this eagle..and in a precious moment of silence...the wings of love will surround that little Sparrow and carry him to a place of warmth and full of love.
A beautiful, heart-felt song for all the little sparrows, and there are many of us out there who long for the gentle touch and the arms of an angel on earth.

Heard this for the first time this morning on the radio. Nearly made me late for work as I had to stay and listen to the whole thing. One of those songs that just makes you think, and so beautiful. Sometimes, whatever you are doing and wherever you have to go you just have to take time out and think about lyrics like these. Thank you Labi.

Strangly enough the first time I heard this song, I'd rescued a baby sparrow that had fallen out of it's nest that morning. The baby sparrow unfortunately died, but this song will never leave me. It has to be the most beautifully thought inspiring song there is. Love is the most important thing.
